F1 Manager Developer Under Fire for Layoffs and Mismanagement

Developments’ Future Uncertain Amidst Allegations and Low Morale

We’ll try to post only at most one bad news per day. Following yesterday’s Kwalee Restructures for “Growth”, here goes another one:

Frontier Developments, the studio behind the F1 Manager series, is facing allegations consisting of mistreatment of employees and financial mismanagement. After a disappointing financial period, the company management though “maybe we should fire some people, so our periodic economic statistics stay up”, leading to criticism of its redundancy process and a “dehumanizing” evaluation structure.

Former employees express some information regarding the inflated sales expectations of the companly. This, coupled with rushed development timelines, led to underperforming products like F1 Manager 2022 and 2023.
But don’t worry, like in software development, management blamed both the development team and marketing for this, despite internal warnings of potential issues.

These decisions snowballed and soon enough affected Frontier’s workforce. Many talented individuals were “let go”, and those who remained describe a demoralizing and hostile work environment. Nothing makes you feel like a ‘leftover’ after this traumatic experience.

The future for Frontier Developments is uncertain. The company’s leadership is under fire, and this news reporting is finally over.
