Steam breaks its own record by exceeding 34 million concurrent players.

This past weekend, Steam reached a historic milestone with a record-breaking 34.65 million users playing simultaneously on the platform.

This is the highest level of gaming activity ever recorded on Steam, and given the platform’s continued growth, it is likely that this record will soon be surpassed.

SteamDB, a site that provides detailed statistics for both individual games and the platform as a whole, captured this new record for concurrent users on Steam. On March 3, 2024, Steam reached a new peak of 34,649,583 concurrent players at around 6 a.m. Pacific Time (9 a.m. Eastern Time), exceeding the previous high of 33,675,229 achieved on January 30, 2024. According to SteamDB, this peak was achieved at around 9 a.m. Eastern Time.

The surge in Steam’s player count at the beginning of the year is mainly due to the release of several major games.

Along with consistently popular titles such as Counter-Strike, DOTA 2, PUBG, and Apex Legends, they have propelled Steam to its current peak.

The platform has been on a growth streak, with an upward trend observed over the last few months, showing no sign of slowing down.

Before February 2024, Steam experienced five months of continuous growth, with only a minor decrease before the substantial rise in March. With the continuous release of compelling games, the platform is likely to exceed 35 million concurrent players soon.
