Valheim Adventures: I Never Want To Leave The Meadows

Valheim Adventures: I Never Want To Leave The Meadows
I’ve recently reinstalled Valheim, only to discover that my savegame wasn’t in the cloud. Reminder to self: to always backup games on my devices too.

While several of my savegames were present, my dear Equinox seed world was missing. Somehow, I managed to find and restore it, plunging back into a world that felt both new and nostalgically familiar. Map landmarks were missing, perhaps a casualty of the restoration process, or maybe my character from two years ago was just too far gone. But leaving the drama aside, I found myself eagerly revisiting my starting area.

The Equinox seed encapsulates everything I love about the game. The starting area is a small island(I could run around it in 8minutes) that contains the Meadow, Black Forest and Mountains. Not to forget the plethora of resources everywhere.

Redescovering my old world

First thing first, I find my Black Forest outpost. So many hours invested digging a trench to surround the property. If I try to remember, I could easily point to specific podcasts or series of podcasts while doing the ground work in this area.

Black Forest Fort

Running for a few minutes, sticking close to the coastline, I soon find my Meadows “Port.” Nostalgia kicks in, remembering how I wanted to build the fort using the surrounding Stonhenge-like area. I say hello to my pet boar and begin collecting resources to craft a boat, aiming to reach the next island where my journey halted two years back.

I recall setting up at least a couple more significant outposts, in the starting island. This highlights a recurring challenge I face when I play Valheim. Whether it’s after a short run or upon discovering an appealing area, I often find myself stopping to construct a new post, tapping into my inner survivalist instincts.

Navigating The Waters

With materials collected and the boat constructed, I don’t hesitate for daylight. I set off for the next island in the eve of night, thrilled to once again navigate the open waters.

Almost There

Into the night I run, skirmishing with skeletons along the way. Run and fight, and run and fight.

I’m almost there, almost at my outpost.

And there it is!

But to my surprise, the restoration is older than I anticipated. The elaborate island outpost, built upon for over 20 hours, is missing. What remains is the outpost in its early form, such a shame!

Into New Beginnings

While it doesn’t feel good knowing I’ve lost my world, this calls for a new start.

I’m too old to get upset.

The only solution is a new character and world. And the seed CdjvRssbHZ, without too many spoilers, seems to have great landscapes. New begginings!
