8 Must-Watch Nintendo Switch Releases in April 2024

April 2024 might not be overflowing with huge releases for the Nintendo Switch, but there are some gems worth checking out.

April Releases

Grounded (April 16th)

Genre: Survival, Crafting, Co-op.
Description: Shrunk down to the size of an ant, you must survive in a backyard world filled with insects. Build bases, craft tools, and fight or befriend the bugs around you.
Reasons for Hype: The game looks really good, my only hope is that it can hold framerates, this is the only concern at the moment. Already popular in early access, the full release promises even more content. Its blend of familiar genres of survival, crafting and co-op, and the story looks creepy!

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (April 23rd) switch

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes (April 23rd)

Genre: JRPG.
Description: A spiritual successor to the Suikoden series, expect a large cast, tactical battles, and base-building elements. Created by genre veterans.
Reasons for Hype: Strong nostalgia factor, potential to fill the void for classic JRPG experiences on modern consoles. Seems to have a lot of content, and overall this is the classic JRPG we want and need on the Switch.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants (April 23rd)

Genre: Retro-style Beat 'Em Up.
Description: A side-scrolling brawler in the vein of classic TMNT arcade titles. Likely features co-op and recognizable characters and settings from the series.
Reasons for Hype: Pure nostalgia play, ideal for quick play sessions and co-op fun. Seeing the TMNT 2012 art style again brought back some memories

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron (April 28th)

Genre: Puzzle-Adventure.
Description: Features a striking hand-painted art style, a focus on exploration alongside its puzzles, and hints of a companionship-focused narrative.
Reasons for Hype: This game went under the radar, but I've noticed it has a good looking atmosphere, and remains under my watchlist.

Broken Roads (April 10th) switch

Broken Roads (April 10th)

Genre: Isometric RPG, Narrative-Heavy.
Description: Set in a post-apocalyptic Australia, deep moral choices and a unique philosophical system influence gameplay.
Reasons for Hype: Fans of classic Fallout titles will love it. The settings looks great, and the graphic style is exactly for my taste.

Library of Ruina (April 25th) switch

Genre: Card Battler, Strategy.
Description: A story-driven RPG where combat unfolds through deckbuilding mechanics. Unique presentation inspired by a library setting.
Reasons for Hype: Highly praised on PC, the Switch port is already on my watchlist.

Another Crab's Treasure (April 25th)

Genre: Soulslike, Underwater Exploration.
Description: Combat inspired by the Souls series set in an ocean polluted by trash. Utilize the junk around you as armor and weapons.
Reasons for Hype: An underwater soulslike , while putting in the effort of being an approachable. This should game looks looks promising.
