Take all my money please!
Let’s be real here for a second: the trend of showing off gameplay footage in trailers and previews is a major win for both gamers and the gaming industry. I know, it’s not entirely new, of course, but it feels like we’re finally at a point where it’s become the standard for every big release. And that’s something that makes me want to take a step back and enjoy these times.
Showing less by showing more
Cliche, I know.

That first galnce, even with YouTube’s compression doing its best to muddy the details, is dripping with atmosphere. Now, I would certanly love to see more details especially in the lighting area, but what I do love about the gameplay, is that the night time is really dark.

It’s refreshing to see a UI that doesn’t feel overwhelmed by current design trends. At least during exploration, it maintains a minimalist aesthetic at best.
I don’t really want to discuss further gameplay assumptions. After all, the gunplay, the narrative, and the overall atmosphere are things we’ll each experience for ourselves.
However, my expectations are undeniably high, because the previous games raised a bar to impressive levels.
