Let’s be real here for a second: the trend of showing off gameplay footage in trailers and previews is a major win for both gamers and the gaming industry. I know, it’s not entirely new, of course, but it feels like we’re finally at a point where it’s become the standard for every big release. And that’s something that makes me want to take a step back and enjoy these times.

A gun, the zone, and the moonlight

That first galnce, even with YouTube’s compression doing its best to muddy the details, is dripping with atmosphere. Now, I would certanly love to see more details especially in the lighting area, but what I do love about the gameplay, is that the night time is really dark.

The Inventory Looks Sweeeeet

It’s refreshing to see a UI that doesn’t feel overwhelmed by current design trends. At least during exploration, it maintains a minimalist aesthetic at best.

I don’t really want to discuss further gameplay assumptions. After all, the gunplay, the narrative, and the overall atmosphere are things we’ll each experience for ourselves.

However, my expectations are undeniably high, because the previous games raised a bar to impressive levels.
